Descending from a long line of artists, Naomi Locardi’s passion for art began in childhood and led her into a career as a graphic artist. Spending more than a decade managing her own graphic design, print brokering and branding firm, in 2010 she co-founded the popular travel photography blog, blamethemonkey.com — collaboratively developing the visual and written content for it along with her husband and travel photographer, Elia Locardi.
Dubbed the “Travel Goddess” by friends, Naomi is the the logistical master mind responsible for the majority of her and Elia’s location independent life on the road, the Dream Photo Tours, Photo Workshops and other related events they co-host worldwide.
With a passion for all things creative, world travel has been an excellent source of inspiration for her photography and other artistic outlets.
“I truly believe traveling the world changes your perspective and opens your mind in ways that only travel can. In my opinion, the best part of getting to do what I do is the incredible people I’ve gotten to connect with along the way. Photography has this fantastic way of binding even total strangers together through a shared passion. And I’ve met some amazing people, heard unbelievably inspiring stories, and made some wonderful friends around the world these last several years.
Life is about following your inspiration, making a path for yourself that’s uniquely yours, and overcoming the fears and challenges that would hold you back if you chose to let them. Living an unconventional lifestyle means taking chances and being brave enough to carry on in the face of great uncertainty. I’m pretty confident making the choice to leave our old way of life behind and travel the world was a defining moment in my life, and no matter where the road ends up leading me, I’m just happy to be walking a road that’s of my own creation.”
