Miami photojournalist Al Diaz travels the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean covering breaking news, sports and feature stories for The Miami Herald.

Diaz is the recipient of the Humanitarian Award by the National Press Photographers Association and the Associated Press Media Editors Showcase Photo of the Year in 2015. Diaz is a member of The Miami Herald news team that won the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for the newspaper's coverage of Hurricane Andrew and the McClatchy President's Award for Journalism Excellence for coverage of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. He has also received a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for portraits of needy families during the holidays.

Diaz earned his journalism degree at the University of Florida. He is married to Cindy Seip and has two children, Angelika, James and their dog Amanda Bubbles.
